December 8 - Sayonara, Tokyo....

All good things must come to an end....
With check out time at noon, and our flight not leaving until 7:00 PM, there was a few hours to wander the neighbourhood today. Once packed and arrangements made to hold the luggage until we left, we wandered out.

In the back alley, as it has every day during our stay, stood a cart - perhaps for someone tending the park?

The Tokyo Tower, against a cloudless blue sky.
We decided to go for lunch at the Prince Hotel. The restaurant 33 stories up gave us a spectacular view of Tokyo. Looking towards Roppongi:

Although the horizon was starting to get hazy, it was still possible to see a great distance. See it?

Mt. Fuji is visible (although hazy) to the left of the building in the foreground
Looking down towards Tofyu Ukai restaurant

After a leisurely lunch, it was time for one last quick walk around. Flowers in bloom in December - won't see this at home:

Directions to the subway stations.

Eventually, the time to get our ride to the airport was near. Rieko and her husband had most graciously insisted on taking us - we loaded up the luggage and we were off one last time:

A last look back - Tokyo in the setting sun.
Then, a very bumpy 9 hour flight to Vancouver, clear immigration and customs, a few hours layover before one last flight back home (-23 C on landing!), and our trip was over...
